Confused about using C5 aux input for XM

Confused about using C5 aux input for XM

Ok, so I got my XM setup and using the FM transmitter option now, which is ok. but I want hardwired sound.

I looked at the FAQ here and it looks like 2 pieces are needed. I don't understand why..

Correct me if I'm wrong

I get the PIE GM10-AUX 1995-2004 GM 10-pin Auxiliary Input Converter and plug that into the back of my headunit. then I plug the aux cable into the box...

Here is where I'm confused...

the FAQ says -

ok, What is the one highligthed in red? Why do I need a cd changer harness? isn't there a slot on the back of the OEM headunit that the GM10-AUX just plugs into?

and lastly, this is where I just got confused while trying to get a picture of a C5 radio back...

I see a little aux input on the back there. is that a regular 3.5mm aux jack? I can't tell... what's all this hassle if there is a little slot back there?

i dont know what picture you have etc but there is no 3.5mm jack on the back of a c5 radio factory
