I need a grill that will accommodate its high-excursion, and keep things as small as a marble from passing through the grill and contacting the sub. In other words, I need a grill that's functional too. I like the Kicker grills, but they won't protect the sub from small objects.
Does anyone have any recommendations on a grill that's both functional, and will accomodate a high-excursion sub? Thanks.
Instead of mounting the sub on the same baffle that makes the top of your box, make ANOTHER sub-baffle that the sub will mount to. Then use some steel mesh mounted to the outer baffle (top most). You can adjust the space between the cone surround and grill by choosing the appropriate thickness of sub-baffle. That make cents?
That makes sense, but my box is already built. I don't want to build 'up' the box by adding more panels to the top, just so my sub appears recessed. Plus, I would prefer a commercial grill if I can get one. Doesn't anyone make one?
well, all I can think then is to get the depth dimensions of something like the mesh grilles in Crutchfield. I use one for my 12" Kicker Comp sub run off 400W, and I have no problems. I'm unfamiliar with the cone excursion of the Infinity though.
Did you get your grill from Crutchfield? How deep is it, and which grill is it? I only saw the Kicker grills and the "low-profile" waffle grills on their site. Thanks.
