It has been a while since I purchased an aftermarket system so I had a lot of familiarization to get through; with much thanks to the knowledgeable contributors here on this forum.
The latest game plan is to hike out the Bose system in favour of:
Eclipse CD8052 8 volt CD receiver (no MP3 or satelite, to bad not 1.5 Din)
2 Audison LRx2.250 amps;2 x 120W @ 4 ohm & 1 x 420W @ 4 ohm
(amps are 6.88" x 11.8" and should fit in the 2 rear pockets with venting)
JL Audio oak/tan Stealthbox sub woofer; 10W3-D2 (want stock look)
Speakers; Focal 165W, the 6.5" Utopia's (no Dynaudio anywhere near me)
Likely a Eclipse 30 band equalizer (EQ2102) or an in dash 8 band (21000)
No rear fill speakers, just the sub in the back
One concern I still have is trying to make the 1 Din Eclipse head unit or head unit plus in dash equalizer look like it belongs with the rest of the dash.I thought of going with the Alpine CDA-D857 1.5 Din but uncertain if it is black enough in color & is not likely as strong a unit as the Eclipse. Any suggestions on how others have dealt with this, recommendations on a certain style/type of trim kit, install photo's etc.
General comments on the selections pro or con always welcome as changes are still possible and likely. Thanks again.
Sounds like a very nice system. You might look into the new Alpine line that is due out next month. They are standard DIN units that have a motorized faceplate that come out into a 1.5 DIN. Just a thought. I am going to look at them once they hit the shops. :yesnod:
mrkln, thanks for your reply. I already have that unit on the list of candidates but am concerned that it may not be out on time or supply may be tight in the early going.
Zapco has a nice 1/2 din processor you might want to look at. I also like the aplines better than the eclypse units. Look at the new 7976? I think its called. MP3 and DVD. Regardless stick with the second # being a 9. This means the circuits are better quality than the "8" units like a 7878.
