Default Install Begins

Now that parts are starting to arrive I thought I would get started on some things. First is the mounting plate for the amp. I followed forum members suggestions and am mounting it in the rear center under the hatch. I used UHMW plastic and glued it to the fiberglass for the mounting plate.

Part two was installing the amp. I cut away a 12x12 section of the foam and removed the adhesive from the back of the trim panel. Then I put some small screws in the mounting holes so that I could mark where the panel needed to be drilled. I did this so I could predrill the UHMW panel and the fiberglass trim panel to avoid cracks and insure the amp was level.

For those people trying to stay with the original corvette formula of lightweight sports car, the amp was almost a direct swap as far as weight with the CD changer I removed. I will keep track of the total weight added for the project and summarize when I am done.
