Hey guys whats up in the c5 vettes where can u get a ground for the amp wire i was lookin in the trunk none of the car looks metal or at least accesible to me!!!Do i have to run another wire and make my own ground?? Also where can i get the red ignition wire i had hooked the radio to the cigarette lighter and now i have to turn it off everytime i leave the car????????
I ran my ground back to the battery but here is another solution provided by DPC5. This location in the underside of the rear bumper (between the exhaust tips)
In regards to your power problem, there is a yellow wire that provide switched power in the passenger foot well behind the kick panel. Just remove the cover and you will see it hanging there. FYI, there are 3 wires under the panel (red, yellow, and black). The red is always hot, and the black is a ground.
Thankz alot man put that pic is where i dont get what that is this stereo is all new to me also my friend told me i can use the 4 bolts under the passanger seat thankz 4 the help
Here is a clue on the picture. Look under the back of the car and look straight up from between the mufflers. The C5 emblem you see is on an exhaust plate that is very common on C5's. You will see the bumper right there. :yesnod:
There is a radio on output of 12volts on he back of the HU that I used to turn the amp on. I grounded the amp at the HU bracket by running along the center console. Simple and effective.

So if I use the yellow wire will it cut the stereo if I turn my car off? Basically instead of using the aux 12v power supply I don't want my radio to be on when I turn the car off. I just don't want to forget one day and leave my radio on. As for the ground I don't want to use the back bumper as my ground. Do the hard top z51's have the ground under the passenger seat? Thanx guys.
