I've got a 1 cu. ft. box I want to use. What sub would give me a good sound? Most of the 10" subs I have found are recommended to be used with a .5 to .75 cu. ft. enclosure. A 12" sub is too large for my box.
Re: help with 10" sub and 1 cu.ft. box (edge99hardtop)
I assume you meant a sealed box (since vented are larger)? If sealed, 1 cu ft is on the large side for a 10; but all you'll really do is reduce the system Q (rolloff). Sealed boxes aren't nearly as fussy and many folks like the sound of low-Q systems for tight, accurate bass. I've used JL Audio 10w0 and 10w3 successfully in 1 cu ft; just glancing at my Crutchfield catalog here's a couple other 10's that should work:
Kicker Comp, CompVR
Rockford HE, HE2
Polk GXR
Or if you have a particular driver you like with smaller box requirements, it's easy to reduce internal volume. Just add anything that displaces air; glue in wood blocks for additional bracing, can of Spam, etc.
Re: help with 10" sub and 1 cu.ft. box (edge99hardtop)
Is it built down into the lower well. For the cheap suggestion, spacer plates maybe added to remove interior volume. How wide and deep is the box top plate? Also what is the thickness of the top plate?
Side note: Thanks for the cab rides at the cruise Inn!
Re: help with 10" sub and 1 cu.ft. box (edge99hardtop)
I use Kicker Comp. VR's , howvwer most brands , such as Kicker , Alpine, and Kenwood tell you the recommended space for each line of subs. Check out their websites.
