Did anyone here ever install a JVC AX4302 amp in a C5 ??
Are there any special considerations with this unit? I'm going to completely bypass the BOSE audio system and go directly to the door speakers. if you mean keeping stock speakers....no your not
I'm not sure what the door speaker can sustain, but I won't have this on very loud. It is 100 watts RMS with 600 watt peaking power.
Dan
better rethink this...your going to want some new components for the front
Yes FOR PLAN B , I'm also looking at some 6X9 JVC speakers. Will the 6X9 form factor be easy to install ?
(I mean in the doors?)
OK SCRATCH THAT. I'll get 8" speakers that fit properly for proper baffling.
you really want to get 6.5" components to be honest. BUy a nice set. I have many to offer you
BTW Thanks for reminding me. Yes 2 speakers in each door. That's why I bought the amp. Only the tweeters are working. BOSE won't turn on.
Besides all of that, is there anything else I should think of ???? FUSE #22 FOR IGNITION ?
no
on a 2002 like you have there is a yellow wire to connect to in the passenger footwell fuse 22 is only for a 2004
Surprisingly there is NO problem using the JVC amp with the stock 8" BOSE speakers.........that is.....using it the way I am......with the LOW PASS FILTER.
With this JVC, you can select NO FILTER, (OVERLOADS with no filter) Hi Pass or LOW PASS filter AND fine tune the crossover frequency cut/boost.
With these adjustments you can make the bass muddy or punchy which is where I have set it.
THERE IS WAY MORE VOLUME THAN MY EARS CAN TAKE ......and I have played drums for over 40 years.
I'm using a cheap Jenson radio/cassette/usb WITH HD radio as the input source. I'm sure with a better radio the definition would even be better.

Are you sure about this Dan, as believe the Bose 8" bass buzzers are only 1 ohm. The the JVC amp wont like this much at higher volumes. If you insist on running the factory front speakers, at least add some small tweeters crossed over high.

The JVC has all kinds of adjustments. Of course you don't turn the volume up full and plug it in !! As I said , the JVC has a built in crossover and low pass filter. I have also adjusted the curve.
Now I haven't had the car on the road with this yet, (no road noise to consider) but I just got new Michelin RUN FLATS which is also going to make less noise.
Trust me though. I'm only using a FRACTION of the power that this box is capable of delivering. If I ever blow the speakers, I'll replace them. I won't be able to finish this job for a few weeks though.
I couldn't reply sooner because we were in PEI or on the way to/from for 9 days. I finished the job yesterday and put the car back together. We were on the freeway today and YES this thing has PLENTY of volume and clarity ! If it breaks down or if 1 year goes by with no problem I'll try to remember to post back here the results.
I will add here that I didn't use any of the existing wiring for this. I used other wires going directly from the amp to the speakers. The old speaker wires were also disconnected. I also used shielded RCA wires from the Jensen to the amp. The power was supplied by an #8 AWG wire through the firewall and I also added an ACCESSORY wire to the fusebox and another #8AWG wire directly to the passenger side "C" post ground terminal.
