Aftermarket head unit for 1986 with Bose
However I'm now looking at a higher end Pioneer which only has 5v preamp outputs. I've asked around and have gotten a bunch of conflicting answers on the installation techniques. Some say to use Kicker rca to wire adapters only and some say to use the PAC SOEM-4 and utilize the attenuators. Some other forums have owners complaining of popping when the head unit switches sources or music tracks when using the rca output. If you've done this and used the SOEM-4, how did you set your output switch? Their manual says to set it as wired but their tech says to set it as rca. I believe the tech may be wrong with regard to that. I have not seen many who have retained the bose system aside from the head unit post their experiences. I know many will say to trash the remainder of the system but I have a set of refurbished amps installed and the sound is fine as the car is a summer weekend driver.
