Downgrading C6 nav system
I have a 2008 C6 and my nav system just quit. The disc drives for the cd and DVD do not work. I've taken the unit out and sent to a repair shop where they quoted me $ 775 for repair, installation, and a one year warranty. As there is only 4500 miles on the car and I am the second owner, GM has agreed to split the cost of a new nav system with me for $ 925 installed with a 1 year warranty. To me, these are both pretty pricey options. I don't want to go aftermarket with the associated hassle. I asked GM if I could downgrade and install a GM single disc changer with no navigation as the radio is supposed to be much better than the nav system radio. The service manager contacted GM, and GM said that they did not recommend going this route " as it might cause electrical issues".
Does anyone know what GM is referencing or why I couldn't have the single disc player flashed and installed in my car ? Also, going this route, is there any other functionality that I might lose such as bluetooth ?
