Default C5 Bose head unit replacement Question's

I have a 98 convertible w/ Bose system. It sounds ok. I have a Pioneer DEHP77 direct fit HU, and another Pioneer w/ USB I can install. Will changing the head unit help that much in sound quality.?I will probably replace the 3.5's and rears w/ Infinity's later. Does the adapter use only speaker level, or can you use pre amp level to it also? I read that the Bose processes the signal,, then sends it back to the HU, does it still do it w/ the adapter? Will having a loudness control, and better EQ help low bass? Sorry for so many questions, but I really don't want to re-wire the whole system now.

If you get the right adapter, like THIS ONE, it's pretty much plug-n-play.

The speaker outputs from the HU would go directly to the speakers (via the adapter), so if the HU has any DSP it will sound a good bit bertter than oem, especially if you swap out the 3.5's with aftermarkets. I'm now of the opinion that replacing the rears isn't worth it. Just keep the stockers for the rear fill.

The adapter will feed door subs with proper line-level source and trigger the amps to come on as long as you connect it per the instructions.

ROEM does not retain RAP, if you want the radio to stay on until you open a door you can add a GMRAP or Accessory Valet.

What people doesn't seem to understand is that Bose does not make the HU. Only the speaker system. They get cheap with these systems and IMO a good quality HU will indeed improve the sound quality. However it also depends on what you're looking for exactly.

I just want more control over the sound. The Pioneer units I have have 3 band parametriq EQ's, 3 step loudness, high pass filters,3 pre outs. I know the pre outs evidently can't be used except for possibly the sub out. I just didn't know if they would sound right wothout the Bose eq. I'll probably try it and replace the front 3.5's and see how it sounds.

I know what you're talking about, my son has a Pioneer. Yes I do think it will improve the quality a bunch. Talk to Dennis at double D. He would know what you need to hook it all up.
