Default JL HD amp tuning question

I have a 4-channel JL HD amp powering components in the front and a 10" JL sub in the back (channels 3 and 4 bridged).

I have the amp set to the High Pass filter for the components (channels 1 and 2) and I have it set to Low Pass for Channels 3 and 4.

My question is: Should I just turn off the filter for Channels 1 and 2, giving me a little bit better range? Wouldn't I get some of the lower frequencies from that mid-range component if I did this?

Both channels 1 and 2 and channels 3 and 4 are set to about 80 hz.

I have adjusted the input sensitivity on channels 3 and 4 twice and it seems like I either get no bass or too much bass. Is this old age or am I missing something?

You might have some cancellation between the mid and sub. A simple check is to swap the + and - on the sub channels to put it 180* out of phase from before and see if that helps. You'll get the same power, but with a slightly different delivery timing that may blend with your channel 1/2 speakers better.

Generally, having some sort of high pass on the mids is a good idea since it keeps them focused on playing notes that are actually possible for that size speaker. I would keep your crossover on, but perhaps play with the frequency setting. Don't be afraid to try a much lower crossover point, either. I run mine at ~65Hz between the sub and mids, but I have pretty healthy mids.
