Hello all, got my first corvette and the only thing ive picked up for it so far is a nail in my tire! this was the first time taking my wife out for a ride in the new to us car! LOL! Anyway it has an alpine stereo with 2 orion amps in it for now. In my opinion is sounds pretty flat. Imthinking of going back to stock items like the Bose it orignally had or upgrading it?
Have any of you done the re-stock route? Will it be difficult to replace aftr it has been removed(assuming the stock harness is still intact).
Thanks for the input!
If you put the stock setup back you'll be remembering the good old days when it was only 'flat'
I'd start by finding the speakers and figuring out why it's flat. Something may just be disconnected. Maybe even try a quick speaker swap with another set to see if it helps (if the amps are accessible you can do that without removing any panels).
HU adjustments can have a big affect on the sound, but most are about the same with the adjustments all off. The amp can't really change the sound much other than the filters, so check them to be sure they're set properly.
I don't know squat about C4's, but I'm pretty good with the aftermarket stuff. If you need help I'm less than an hour away
Totally agree with markcz. Going back to stock will give you worse than just flat. The Corvette Bose means Buy Other Sound Equipment.
I totally revamped my C4 to have an incredible sounding system. You just need to determine what you have and then adjust everything to get it working in unison.
Pull the door speaker covers and rear covers to see what is there. You may have to pull the speakers to see what brand you have and to make sure your positive speaker wires are hooked to the positive peg of each speaker.
What are the two amps powering?
One would assume that one drives the front and rear components while the second drives a sub, possibly located in one of the cubby's.
As markcz says, futz with the HU controls and see what that does for you
thank you both. any idea what the stock size speakrs will be? 6X9 front and back on a 1991 convertible.
From the C4 FAQ's - In the 1990-1996, the speakers are powered boxes, with a 4" and 1.5" tweeter up front, and a 6" round in the rear. Both enclosures are ported. Those ports are tuned to the Bose speaker and will not function with any other speaker. If you reuse the old Bose enclosures, make sure the ports are blocked off.

Great advice! I will actually have time this weekend to check that out as well as some other suggestions! Thanks again. Drew
I am very much in favor of upgrading or at least modernizing components of the car. Most is stock, but luxuries are better than a tape deck and road map.
Just a thought but you could have speakers out of phase, meaning the + and - are reversed on one of the speakers. I would pull the speaker covers, then pull the speakers to make sure the + is hooked up to the + on the speakers, etc
Then I would find out what the two amps are driving. Is one driving the components and the second a subwoofer?
