00 C5 Convert with Bose
The factory system is tired and i'm looking to upgrade. Have few questions and comment.
1. Should i upgrade the speakers and keep the Bose amps or just replace it all?
2. I'd really like a double din, but dont need nav or anything, nor can i really afford alot of money for the unit plus bezel mods. Is there an alternative to the DD that would work and look nice?
Anyone have a semi-budget buildup they could share?

The only "Bose" amps are the ones that drive the 8" 'subs' in the doors. They are built into the plastic piece that holds the 8" 'sub' and 3.5" full range driver in the door. The 3.5" front and 5.25" rear drivers are driven off of the factory head unit. My opinion is to simply replace everything.
Buy a new HU, new speakers, an amp and a sub... depending on what you want/need, this can be done for not a lot of money.
Check with Dennis (DD Mods) here on the forum. He is a forum vendor that has a lot of different packages for the C5's and C6's. He can hook you up with everything you need to get your system sounding better than new.

If you don't want Nav, there are LOTS of single din HU's available at low prices with tons of features. In single dins I prefer the Kenwood Excelon series. HU + adapter, under $300.
The C5 center tub is perfect for a stealth sub box. Plenty of inexpensive choices HERE.
6.5" components for the doors, $150-300.
Add a bridgeable 4-channel amp to power everything, easily under $300.
Less than $1000 can replace everything and give you a great sounding system.
