Default C6 sub and amp recommendations around $500

I currently have a Pioneer AVC P4200DVD installed with stock Bose speakers.

I am looking for more volume. I had a C5Z with 1 JL10W6 powered by a Punch 800 and it eventually blew and I replaced it with a Punch P310 that wasn't as impressive.

I'm looking for something maybe same or better and still need funds for a box. Probably one of the cubby ones.

This is what I would recommend

1- Arc Audio Arc 10
1- Kenwood XR1S
1- driver side sub box
shipping
total shipped 799.99

The Arc 10 will fit into a driver side box and to me a better option than the 10w3
The 10w6 will fit but you will need a custom box and will add another 400.00 to the cost of this for the box and sub.

I took an alternate route and added an already built ported subwoofer box that facilitates two 10" subs. The box sits directly behind the seats in my C5 Fixed Roof Coupe on the deck and is perfectly snug in betwen the forward lip and lower portion of aft windshield. The sub box acts as a partition to the trunk area, and is housing two old school Audiobahn AWP-310 Pro Compression Subwoofers, powered by an MTX 1501d amplifier.

Since the Pioneer deck is not directly compatible with Bose, I am using a GM-CRV-1 audio line converter. ($89.00 at the time of purchase).

Subs cost me $200 each and the amp ran me just about $287. Keep in mind, this is about 7 years ago.

In short, the bass is just disgusting and insane. For Bass Heads, its perfect. For the general audio enthusiast, its overkill. But, I do have the flexibility to both worlds....Rounding out the sub-standard C5 audio system or cranking up the bass.

Currently, I have my sub power out set at -15 to keep the peace with my ears and overall listening experience. Yes, NEGATIVE 15! As I slide left to -10, -5, or even 0....Its way too much and I couldn't imagine going into the +.

Have fun.

Dang that's pricey. I'm thinking I will probably have to acquire these separately over time.

What kind of power is the amp pushing and what's the rms for the sub?

Also, is there a better or alternate way to just have 1 amp and use it to power some better front 3.5" tweets too, or should I keep that separate?

That sounds loud! I think going dual will definitely cost more.

The box alone is 300.00
amp has a retail of 600.00
so really this is not to bad.

If your going to spend the time to amp front speakers then you will want to go with a set of components

If you want to do it all with one amp you'll either need a 5-channel amp or a bridgeable 4-channel if you ditch the rears (or use oem amp/speakers as fill in the rear).

The most expensive part of a rear sub is the box. You can DIY an MDF enclosure for under $50, but it won't fit into a corner tub, you'd have to put it directly behind the seats.

Just FYI, I'm feeding an Arc 10D2 in a drivers side box 350w RMS and it has plenty of thump to keep up with the doors which are getting over 250w each (details in sig).

Full spectrum low frequency signals aren't present in C6 anywhere you can install a LOC

I have an MDF box loaded with a Pioneer TS-SW1201S4 that I'll sell for $125 shipped if anyone wants it. I was feeding it 350wRMS from a Kenwood XR-5S and it thumped pretty hard. Coupe targa top can still be stowed in oem brackets.

PICS: 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 The lanyards are still attached (slide them under targa stowage brackets), and the recessed amp mounting area is 10"x13"

If someone buys the sub/box combo I'll even throw in a premade Add-GM24 harness if they want it
