help with amp install.
I bought a long RCA cable and have located the dk blue and brown pre out wires on the back of the factory HU. My question is when I cut the ends of one end of the RCA cable there are two wires on each side. Which one do I use to tap in to each wire? What do I do with the other wires? I have searched the archives and cannot find any details on how exactly to accomplish this.

Every RCA cable is different. You must use an ohmmeter to figure out what wire is the center conductor and which is the outer or shield conductor. The shield goes to the bare shield wire on the HU.

While waiting for a reply earlier today I went ahead and took a shot in the dark. I figured out which wires were the "center" wires and wired them to the pre out wires on the back of the HU. The "shield" wires I regarded as a neg. wire so I wired them to the black wire on the back of the HU. This seems to be some sort of neg. or ground wire. Long story short it seems to work as the subs are pounding now. Any reason I shouldn't leave it like this.
