This is my first time in the audio forum need some help with a basic sub woofer hook up. I have a kenwood H/U running into a Sony amp which powers the two front speakers and the two rear speakers, very basic set-up I believe. How or where would I hook up a amp and sub woofer to this system. I am presently using the rca connectors out of the H/U to the amp. Would appreciate any advice you can give me.
Well, what model Kenwood do you have? Does it have subwoofer RCA outputs on the radio? thats where we need to look at first. If it does not, its not that big of a deal - you'd just have to put on a RCA Y splitter off the raido and run it to an amp for the sub.
What are you looking at for an amp? Best bang for the buck right now is the Audiopipe APSM 1500's which actually do their rated power and run around $130 brand new.
Secondly, which sub(s) are you looking at to purchase?
Thank you for your reply, You have already answered most of my question. This is a budget set-up for my son, there are no extra rca connections on the H/U. I'm thinking about just getting some type of amplified bass tube mounted in the hatch portion of his car. The H/U is a Kenwood KDC-1028, nothing high dollar with a Sony xplode 4 channel amp.
