Re: Hey Nomad (Kale)
I have 4 layers of Brown Bread on each door and door panel with ¼” carpet/foam padding. I have 4 to 5 layers of it on the floor pan, sidewalls, fender wells, under the seats, up the firewall, everywhere! I even put it down the tunnel behind the rear speakers!
Yes, it has made a drastic improvement in dampening sound, resonance and rattles. It is so air tight I have to crack a window or door just to close the hatch or doors LOL! It is kind of strange how quiet it is after you first dampen it. It’s like you’re in a different car. You really don’t realize just how much road noise you have in those C4’s until it’s gone.
I am very pleased with the Brown Bread, it is a PITA applying it but it is well worth it in the end! :yesnod:
I was thinking about trying this stuff called Raamatt. It’s a bit thinner than Brown Bread requiring more layers but is supposed to be easier to apply. I’ll give a review on it when I try it, until then, I can highly recommend Brown Bread. Look for it on Ebay they have really good deals there, I got 70 sq. ft. of Brown Bread for only $100 USD there. ;)
I have some pics if you want me to post them. :seeya

Re: Hey Nomad (Kale)
So is it mercedes-quiet yet?
Well after riding in my friends new CL class Mercedes I would have to say no, it isn’t that quiet but then again his Mercedes doesn’t have a targa top either or a rear hatch to let a lot of road noise in but as far as his old Mercedes SL class...yes, it rivals that level of quietness. As far as Vette’s go, it is extremely quiet. :D

Re: Hey Nomad (Kale)
LOL goood luck, I don't know how you're going to get a C4 Corvette much quieter than this. Keep in mind you have a targa top and hatch glass that you can do nothing about noise coming from. Even though my entire interior is completely dampened with new weather-stripping all around and have no sound from anywhere in it I still get wind buffeting sound from it hitting the glass I mentioned which nothing can be done about. I have dampening on my solid targa top and even the Halo area but that hatch is where most of the sound buffeting comes from. Even with the dampening on the solid targa top there isn’t much difference in it and the transparent targa top. Glass is a major sound conductor and a Corvette coup has a lot of glass. :yesnod:
Anyway, with your stereo pumping 100,000 db's you shouldn’t hear any road noise in your car at all LOL!
I've thought about getting a used Lexus, but I haven't seen any that look like fun to put my stereo in.. except for the SC400.. But for that price, i can have a ZR-1.
