-mount on floor and create a false floor
-Mount on the back wall of the cargo area
-inside the storage bins.
Those are some suggestions.. What amp(s) are you looking for? what is your system going to consist of?
here is how my amps were mounted.. I am current relocating them to the back wall to give me some floor space again.. I have also debated on selling these for some smaller footprint amps as well

All depends on what you want from it.. I had one amp in place of the 2 above, but added the second for more power.. with the top off and on the highway it was hard to hear.
It is not too bad to do the install, take your time, ask questions and it should be fine..
I got an kenwood KFC 352u. Looking at kickers for speakers...Do you plug the new wire harness in to the harness from the head unit or the Cdm box? I have installed radios in a lot ove my cars over the years. Just confused on the corvette withe the separate parts to the stock radio. And having to add resoister to avoid the idiot light from coming on. (where do they go?)
I have 1986 coupe. I used two PDX amps with a single 10" fiberglass eclosure. I did remove the rear compartment assembly. I wanted it simple and it sounds better than I thought it would. One of the best systems I ever did. Sometimes less is better.
