I am going to run a single 12" sub and will be concealing it under the cargo cover. Can I just put the cover over the sub and be done or does it need to be modified (cut) to let the sub play/sound better?
If I have to cut it, do I need to cut a hole the size of the sub? I don't want to cut the carpet. I am just going to cut the board, or whatever it is called :D, and leave the carpet alone. Hopefully I won't cut through the carpet as I am doing this. What is the best way to cut this thing? Thanks!
Easiest thing to do is to goto Home Depot/Lowe's, or whatever is close. buy some 1/4 in Birch/plywood about the same physical size as the cover. Find some fine grade metal mesh/expanded steel screens and get creative on hole design. The cover will vibrate like no other if there are no vent holes to let it breathe through. Then mark the cover latches hole positions, and carpet.
Follow sig link to see my cover. I used 1/4" Birch and 1/8" hardboard fiberglassed together, because I usually carry bags and other crap for trips. I used cheap carpet at the time and have sice replaced it. Later man, Oh 1*12 isn't going to compare to 4*10's :yesnod:
A back-up plan never fails, or is it "I love when a plan comes together!"
Actually the 4 10's take up too much space. I need more room so that is why I'm doing the single 12. I know it won't be that loud, but I can live without all that noise. ;) ;)
