Newbie question - MDF?
I'm looking at speaker upgrades on my 2002 coupe, and keep seeing references to MDF for speaker mounting. I know it's a dumb question, but what is MDF?

Medium Density Fiberboard. It is like particle board, but denser and stronger.

It’s density and strength allows it to resist flex and resonance found in most other types of wood. :yesnod:

Sawdust from the floor pressed together, bonded by glue, absorbs vibrations and noise without the weight of plywood.
When I build my boxes, I use 1/4" plywood patched in spots with dynamat to absorb the vibrations, to save weight.
