Has anyone mounted an amp behind the waterfall in a convertible. I have a new 5 channel JL that looks to fit behind and out of site. Any suggestions to do or not to do. This would make it easy to wire sub in trunk and back to front thru the center console.
I put in an Arc Audio 4 channel replacing the Bose amp and an Arc Audio sub woofer amp behind the waterfall. Make sure you check the height of the amp to fit behind the waterfall. Not all amps will fit there.
I machined a T-shaped structure from 1/4" thick aluminum. The amp is mounted on the vertical section of the T. I place velcro on the bottom plate to keep it from sliding out while driving.
Works great. I can slide it out to adjust the gains. It is barely visible.

Thanks i am using a JL 6 channel amp and the fit is perfect. Spent the whole weekend replacing door speakers with Diamond components, Diamond 10" sub in trunk, Diamond 5.25's in rear, and my Avic z1. Job not completely finished but expect to finish this week. The amp and the pioneer xm module now sits underneath the waterfall. Only problem i had was the crossovers were so large I had to mount them on the trunk side of the divider on my convertible. These things are huge, these are the only set of speakers I have ever bought in a nice wooden case. Hope to upload complete install once complete.
