Default Rear View Camera Install???

My DD bezel arrived from Dennis a while back and in a few weeks I will be installing a DD Kenwood DNX9960 and adding a Kenwood CMOS-210 rear view camera. I have already bench tested the camera and works as it should.

My question is what is the beat way to feed the wiring at the very rear of the car? I plan on mounting the camera just above the license plate frame area.

Also I need to tap into the backup light wiring (light green) what is the best way to do this? Can you just remove the reverse light/plate holder to gain access?

Thanks in advance!

I always drill a small hole in the vertical wall going into the hatch area to run the cables. Make it just big enough for the largest plug to fit through, then cover both sides with duct tape when done.

Post #2 of this thread shows where to get the reverse signal in the passenger footwell, or you can do it in the back if you pop out the inner brake light housing and just reach in.

Mark I have a 99 FRC/hardtop...Is the vertical wall you refer to at the very back of the trunk area?

Is that green green reverse wire picture in the second thread a C5 or C6?

Thanks for your input!

Link is for C6, ignore it, in C5 you have to use wire at reverse lights.

Rear wall is still the same, if you pull out a brake light housing it's the one you'd be looking at. Inside the car just pull off the trim/carpet covering the rear trunk wall and that's the other side of the same plastic from outside.

--OR-- in C5 you can route wires through the vent louvers that are on the drivers side trunk wall, just behind the wheel hump. IMO it's easier to just drill a 1/2" hole.

Sound easy enough!
