Can I put a screw here?
I posted this over in C5 Tech and I wanted to post it here also. I installed a Kenwood Head Unit and Pioneer speakers a couple of years ago but I didn't install any kind of sub woofer. I didn't need or want a big sub woofer. But now they have these little sub woofers so I'm thinking that's just want I need, so I bought the Kenwood KSC-SW11. I'm thinking about mounting it right where it is in the picture so my question is: Can I screw it down there without a problem? What's under that area? I thought I read in a thread that the gas tanks are there. Does someone know?

MDF or a hardwood board are popular options, but if you want it thinner you can make a 'plate' out of sheet metal or thinner wood and use bolts coming up through the carpet, but you have to mount them to the plate in exactly the right spots.

Thanks Mark, I never could have done my HU install without the help I got from you so thanks again for that. I guess I'll go with the sheet metal, since I'm a sheet metal worker by trade and have a shop. So I'll have my Forman shear me a piece of alum in the morning.
