C5 base 2001:
I've had my vette for a few months and so far I've replaced the stock radio with a pioneer HU using (if memory serves correctly) a PAC vette oem1 interface. I have never been happy with the sound, although the pioneer is an improvement.
Next on my list was to swap out speakers. I thought it would a good Easter project to tear open the door and see what it would sound like with some Polk 3.5s.
When I checked the stock speakers, I'm getting nothing out of the sub. So, my question: Before I tear into the wiring on the radio, isn't the signal from the radio going to a Bose amp that also serves as a crossover? In my novice thinking, I can't figure out why a single signal coming from the radio could result in the sub not working unless either the sub or amp are fried. Ideas?
Was actually an Axxess interface. I found a link buried in another thread about "booting up" the unit properly after installation that gave additional details that I did t have when I first installed it. Had to sit in the car with the door closed and wait for the car to completely power down. Seems to have done the trick. Subs are now alive. Now to try out some new twiddlers.
