Re: Alpine 3401 Equalizer.. Need help. (92TripleBlack)
:nonod:
err, what?
I got it running and played with it, every time i thought it suonded better, i changed CD's and kept findingi t sounded better without it.. must need more tweaking
I meant I don't know the specific EQ. Most times, but not all, they really don't add much to a system and often they take away from it. One more way to introduce more distortion or engine whine. My shop was pretty biased against them in most situations. They are supposed to be used on systems to help flatten out peaks and valleys on a flat sound curve. The best way to tweek it would be to get a white noise generator and a tester and check to see what you need to flatten it out. If you have any buddies at a shop, they probably will have one.
Most EQs are junk for kids to push up the bass and treble in the classic V pattern which essentially mimics a loudness button anyway. Alpine though had some decent stuff. Good luck with it.
Kale,
what do you want to know? I own several of these. Great eq.
The selelctor switch will let you run it three ways:
1 input(l+r), 1 output, with seven bands of eq for that input
1 input, 2 output(f+r), with 4 bands on the front, 3 bands on the rear
2 inputs, with 3 bands on one input and 4 bands on the other input.
The in/out switchs just let you bypass the eq circuitry and pass the signal straight through without being affected.
to be honest, to get the most out of a parametric, you need access to a spectrum analyzer to make your adjustments. Parametric eq is far more powerfull than graphic, just more difficult to adjust.
hmn, i've been trying to do it by ear. I've managed to tweak the tweeter a little, and reduce some of the resonance ~120hz. But all the other settings make it sound worse... Must be normal.
