Poor reception after antenna mast replacement.

Default Poor reception after antenna mast replacement.
I just replaced the antenna mast with an aftermarket part and now the reception sucks.Ive gone so far as to use the grounding sleeve from the broken OEM mast and the reception still sucks.If I ran a separate,better ground from the antenna would this help the reception?Thanks.

Specs on car and oem & original antennas would help

Its a 91,what else do you need?OEM is original equiptment.According to the MASTRUS website the mast they sell is an OEM part so its not an aftermarket part as I thought.
