Maybe I just didnt see the sticky covering this; but I just wanted to go over a check list before i install an amp and sub on my c6z06. Have the sub, amp and wiring harness to run rca's from the stock deck to the amp. Couple of questions; what is better, grounding the amp wire to the negative terminal of the battery or a chassis ground (and where would the better location be?) What is the best guage wire that I should run for my power and ground (obvious answer would be as large as the amp terminal would hold?) Any other tips or things im not thinking of? Or my brain is fried from reading over all the sticky posts............
Battery or a ground point shouldn't matter in a Z whichever is easier for you
awesome, since im pulling everything up to run the power, its not a big deal to run the ground as well to the battery.
Amp wise, and forgive me, car audio is not my strong suit, the amp is a kenwood xr600.1. Im only running the JL sub in the stealthbox so I went for a mono amp. Im not sure of the "size", is that the power rating?????
There is a factory ground point in the lower part of each b-pillar beside seat. I am running the same amp with a jl stealthbox and sub has been swapped to a Focal dual voice coil. It hits hard!
Amp location is the million dollar question. You almost have to build some type of box with a cover to make it look good. And that may make you get a professional involved. I've installed multiple amp systems in all my vehicles. I have a lot of concerns with my 2007. I've been waiting on a good answer for amp location or what to do.
