Hi, I am fairly new to this forum thing but wanted to see if there are any others out there that are experiencing poor reception with their FM stereo (stock or aftermarket). I have an '08 that I installed a Kenwood DNX-6990HD in and I had to purchase an FM antenna adapter to hook up the stock antenna. Pretty much ever since I completed this project I have been experiencing horrible reception with my favorite FM stations. I'm talking stations that I used to be able to hold for like 40-50 miles are now fading at less than 10 miles. I went so far as to ohm out the adapter and it seems fine. Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated!
The oem antenna module is powered up by the original radio. Connect your new HU amp trigger wire to pin B3 of the big C1 plug, that will power up the module.
If that doesn't work as well as stock radio, you can add one of these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Deluxe-Inline-Car-Antenna-Radio-AM-FM-Signal-Amp-Amplifier-Booster-/251194134974?pt=US_Radio_Antennas&hash=item3a7c5651be
Well, it's been a month since I posted the previous about my FM reception on my Kenwood Nav system. It got put on the back burner but today (finally) I am planning on looking into this and hopefully fixing it! I still plan on reporting my findings, etc.! Gotta get to bed!!
Well, turns out that my 500 watt JL Audio sub amp is creating some sort of interference or feedback when it's powered, causing a very annoying "garbled" sound. As soon as I disconnected the remote turn-on wire (disabling the amp), the radio reception came in nice and clear again. I wonder if I have a bad or insufficient ground point for the amp? Didn't get a chance to try that yet.
I have a smaller, less wattage (250) sub amp that I'm going to try to see if the problem will get any better. I need to find a good ground in the rear of the car! Not sure yet if that's the issue though. Thanks for your input, pentavolvo.
