Recommendations for a C4 Stereo under $1500 installed

looking for advice on something that will produce some really clean sound, but not kill the bank (don't need 500 gigawatts and heavy duty amps, monster wires).
thinking of a nice alpine, clarion or something similar, but I really don't know too much about current state of the art stereo.
what should a decent professional installation cost and who can do a full conversion in the northern VA area. willing to drive and leave the car for a few days.
thanks!!!
I assume you don't want to cut anything major like the door panels or dash for the install. If you are open to the saw, post that also.

looking for probably something like the quartz MB speakers, a good head CD/radio to rip out the bose crap, and maybe an external amp (but 200 watts or more internal would probably be enough for me).
the factory bose stuff has me POd. don't want to "cut up" the car too bad bud a slight mod for a bigger speaker would be OK.
I may just go to meyer emco and talk to some consultants.
I will be selling the stock bose stuff as I will NEVER go back, and the car is a hot rod not a collector. (LPE 368 ZR1).
no subs, the booming base just isn't my style. I think just a real high power head unit, and some good clean speakers is where I will start. the MP3 stuff is OK, but not needed for me, just good old CDs are fine.
thanks!!!! :D
Boston Acoustic RM9 for rear $275
MB Quart QM 5.25 for front $600
A/D/S PQ40.2 amp $800
Alpine CDA 7995 CD $600
Good system
Pioneer 7400 $250
Orion Xtreme 500.4 amp $400
Boston Acoustics RX97 rear $130
MB Quart PSC 5.25 front $325
Figure $300 install +/-$100 depending on the installer
Either system should be better than anything stock in any car ever made to date. The first system is about as far as you can go without video, subs, or $1000 speaker sets, etc. You can add a changer to either radio and they both are XM, CD/RW and MP3 capable. The prices are not retail but internet prices. Many places will honor internet prices as they still make money on the install.
