Mounting location suggestions.
1-xplod xm-1002hx amp
1-xplod 404eqx amp
4- pioneer 4 way speakers
2-12" kicker subs (competition series)
The above I already have a good idea on where to place them. The thing I am wondering on a good location for, is a 10 disc cd changer. If placed to close to the subs will it cause skip problems?
Also how is all this gonna sound in y '84. I am having my brakes and suspension bushings upgraded now, so it will probably be another week or so before it can be installed. Just excited about having in there, and sound quality of the system. Thanks
Hope this helps.
On another note, I also know the more you pay, the better the sound. Thanks for the advice though.
Depending on the size of your front speakers, with a little modifications, you should be able to fit upto a 5.25 or a 6 inch speaker, while still maintaining the factory grills. The rears can accomodate up to a 6x9 speaker. You might wish to go with a decent set of component speakers all the way around, considering your Sony amp's don't have that great of a HPF (high pass filter). Even if you were to put some speakers in the rear, the bass from your Kickers would ultimately drowned them out, especially since you have a hatchback. Here's my recommendation. Put a set of components in the front and rear, most likely 5.25 inch all the way around. Mount the amps right behind the seats at an angle. Put the subs right behind, firing upwards towards the hatchback window. Due to size constraints, you'll more than likely need to use a sealed enclosure. ***Make sure that your final Impedance level reading is 4 ohms.***
If you have two single voice coil subs, make sure they're both 8 ohms. If you have dual voice coils, make sure they're 4 ohms aside. This will ensure that you're 1002hx plays at 4 ohms, and does not dip below. Should it drop below, the amplifier will severely overheat, thus going into thermal protection mode. Sony amps do not like funky impedance levels, in fact, they crap out pretty easily.
Remember, amps do not like bad current, DC Voltage is a no no... and make sure your car is grounded very well... I know... I know.. it's fibreglass, but you've gotta deal with it.
Good luck
What would be a good set to go in there, front and rear? A friend of mine has a Alpine amp he is gonna sell me, can't remember what he said the mn# was. This amp I will use to power my highs. The 1002HX will have to do for now on the subs.

Sorry!! I'm kidding
I made a "box" for mine.. http://www.84to96.net/boxopen.jpg
You probably want to have MUCH better cooling on those Sony amps tho, or they wil llive up to their name and XPLOD.
Contrary to popular opinion, I think the Pioneer sounds better than Inifniti.. at least the 6x9's do.
MHO, Pioneer makes kilelr 6x9's (6x9's suck, but pioneers suck the least for under $150)
