Killer C5 stereo system for $600......
Ok guys, I couldn't handle the underpowered Bose crap so I decided to upgrade. Didn't really want to go the double DIN route and definitely on a budget. After much research and bargain shopping I put together a killer system for $600 and didn't have to cut anything. This system is simply amazing: high power but more importantly crystal clear sound fidelity all for well under a grand. If someone tells you that you cannot get a high quality system on a modest budget then they're full of it. If anyone is interested here is what I settled on:
Kenwood KDC-X396 - Amazon $94
Infinity 6832cf 6x8" in doors - Amazon $63
Infinity 6032si 6.5" in rear - Amazon $54
Infinity 12" Sub - Amazon $62
NVX JAD900.5 Amp - Sonic Electronix $280
Clarion EQS746 - EBay $50
Metra 99-3900 Mounting Kit - Amazon $18
Metra 40-GM10 Antenna Adapter - Amazon $5
- Had to make adapter plates for front door speaker mounts, not difficult at all.
- Made a custom sub box to drop in rear center compartment.
- Ran all new wiring so I could leave factory plugs intact.
- Covered the mounting kit faceplate in black vinyl for cleaner look.
- Had to do a little sanding on faceplate to get EQ to fit, it was tight but fit without many issues.
- The EQ was bright blue and I didn't like the color contrast with dash so I changed out the LEDs for turquoise to match AC unit. Not any easy task but was like $20.

I love this. I'm gathering my parts for my C6 build. I have almost everything I need and am still under $600.00 although I'm using Kenwood amps I already had. I'm using all big name parts. If you shop like the op and I did, you can really save big time. Plus it fun. Good posting....

also. have you figured out a way to mount your phone and a run a audio wire to the eq for phone playback, i was thinking of using a bluetooth device and hide it somewhere. what do you think.
