Hello everyone, I have been admiring everyone's installs for a couple of months now and thought I would share my recently completed install with you. The system consists of A Pioneer DEH-9400MP receiver with an XM radio satellite receiver, Pioneer 6 Disc CD changer, Focal 165W3 component set, JL Audio 500/1 mono amplifier, JL Audio 300/2 amplifier, JL Audio RBC-1 remote bass control unit, Image Dynamics IDMAX 12" sub-woofer and all Stinger interconnects and power cable. SInce I am unable to post pictures directly to this site you can view them at the following link: http://www.sounddomain.com/id/djc1603
If anyone would like for me to e-mail them the pictures so you get a better view please let me know. The system was installed in a 2001 Black Z06.
I really like the way the amps transition to the sub, very nice vinyl work. :yesnod: One question, why mount the focal crossovers so far from the doors?
The x-overs are pretty large and didn't fit easily up front. I know that in theory a passive X-over should be mounted as close to the speaker as possible but sometimes you have to do what works.
The install was actually done by a independent who owns his on install shop in Pflugerville. He's probably one of the best installers in Texas.
Unfortunately, I didn't get very much time to audition the system. I received my car back from the installer on Sunday evening, on Monday I got caught in the flooding in San Antonio and sucked water into my air intake and blew my engine. My car is now at the dealership awaiting an insurance claims adjuster to review my claim. :cry

sorry to hear about the water incident....I hope it all works out. I think I know the guy in Pflugerville you're talking about - didn't he do Lance Armstrong's '01 Suburban a few years ago?
I was wondering if you know what the underlying material in the amp rack is? wood? fiberglass? I want to design a cool amp rack and currently I want something like yours but with some plexi and lights to show off the system ... is your's covered in vinyl? or is that leather?
The rack is made of wood (birch, I believe) and body filler was used to get the contour. It is covered in vinyl.
Thanks ... I plan to use 1/2 inch MDF and a similar way overlay it with fiberglass and paint it to match the car ... or do what your installer did and cover it ... my first choice is the glass but the vinyl is easier ... (thinks to self... maybe I can find Pewter or Grey Vinyl) .... ...

Oh man, sorry to hear this. I hope your insurance covers it.
Sa Sa Sa Sweeet. What'd something like that cost. I'm intrested in the amp rack/sub box. could I get the guy's name and Number who did that? you think he'd make something to order?
Wow. That is one clean install. It looks great. Good luck with the insurance claim. Did you have an aftermarket intake on the car or did you take in water through the stock intake?
Re: Pictures of new Z06 Stereo Install (M396 #00-011)
That's one of the nicest installs I have seen on the C5. Where did you get the HU, and how much was it? I'd love to put CORVETTE across the face like yours ;)
Thanks for the concern everyone. It was confirmed today that the block is indeed cracked. It looks like my insurance is going to cover it. :D
MRKLN,
I was using an aftermarket air intake (Vortex).
C5NOIR,
I purchased the head unit from Etronics for $499, however, I just checked and the price is now $518. Etronics was a great retailer to deal with, very fast shipping. http://www.etronics.com/
Also anybody who has or will be installing an XM radio and would like to know how to stealth mount the antenna let me know.
