Need some help with a CB installation
Sorry if this is a dupe but I tried the search function with no results.
First, about 4 months back I saw a post by someone selling a CB antena that mounted inside the car (C5) with some sort of ground plane...could anyone post the link here?
Second, whats involved in "matching" the antena to the CB unit?
Re: Need some help with a CB installation (Road_runner)
I*m not selling anything, but I bought a *No Ground Plane* antenna and slid it horizontally into my trunk cargo net along the top elastic. Held in place with a few cable ties, electrical tape on the tip so I dont stab myself. The range is a bit short, about a mile, but its totally stealth and takes up no room. Radio Shack is out of the CB business now, but you should be able to find someone else who sells that type of antenna.
I am no radio expert, but here is my understand of antenna tuning. Those who REALLY know about it are welcome to correct me.....
My *No Ground Plane* antenna has no adjustment to match with the radio, but the adjustment is done on other antennas by loosening the whip in its base and sliding up or down to shorten/lengthen it. The results are checked with a SWR meter, or by listening to the strength of the transmitter on a mid-channel (20) on another receiver, at different lengths.

KoolKat Enterprises manufactures a stealth ground plane antenna for the Corvette. I just purchased the 8" antenna model for my vert thru Vette Specialties (www.vettespecialties.com) the dealer for KoolKat. :flag
