I have what should be a pretty nice sounding setup (Alpine HU, 600W RF Amp, Infinity 3 ways in back and component 2 ways in doors). But the Infinity Reference speakers I installed in the doors have 2 major problems.
1) They have very little treble
2) The bass sounds like it hits a limit and bogs (I do not know how else to describe it, it sounds as if the cone is pushing up against something on deep notes, but there appears to be plenty of room).
What speakers would you guys recommend for the doors of my C5(+/-$200)?
i just put some diamond audio seperates in the door and they sound great but they were 350.00, if you see my above post you can see photos of what they look like, pics should be up soon
I noticed on a set of Reference Infinity's I have that the Tweeter is just soft. As for the Bass, I had the 5-1/4" components and I had to high pass them at about 120Hz so they would not distort. That seemed to clear up the low end problem. but the tweeter problem of being too soft I was never able to fix.
Reference series speakers are the base line of infinity. Kappa is middle and Perfect is their top end stuff. Never a big fan of the Infinities. Even their top line stuff is pretty disappointing next to good solid seperates. Stick to the infinity stuff in the home instead of the car.

Crap, I just purchased the system you described... except for the Amp yet. Did you install the tweeters in the doors? If so, the high freq's really need to be pointed at you as much as possible. I hear about people installing them in the dash, and you get better imaging off the windshield. Prolly a hassle to get to those dash speaker holes, but I'll have to pull the dash apart anyways to run all the wires... I installed some crappy 2-way kenwoods in my other car's door panels, and all i hear is mid-bass, and no highs, unless i put my ears at it's level.

The Alpine deck should be fine. Diamond audio seperates are good. Check also A/D/S 3 series, MB Quart QM and QST, Focal Utopia and Polykevlar, Boston Acoustics Pro Series. These are all good higher end choices ranging from $300 up. They all want at least 75w/channel.
