It got a little warmer today then what was expected today. I got into my truck and just began to wonder if it was to get hot enough in a closed black coupe if any damage could be done to compact discs in the changer or stored in any vehicle. Never seen any comments on this. Should the discs be removed if it gets too hot outside?
Personally I dont think you will have any problems at all. From my experience CDs seem to be pretty bullet proof when it comes to heat. If it's 120 degrees outside and they're in direct sun light it could be a different story I guess. Are these CD-Rs or regular audio CDs? I would think CD-Rs would be more sensitive to heat.

I don't think you'll have any problems. I have a 6 disc changer in the top of my van. The windows are always closed & it gets very hot in there. I've had the mirror fall off from the heat, but the CDs always play just fine. :yesnod:
CPU Magazine just did a torture test on various CD-Rs and CD-RWs in their August issue. One of the tests was to leave the 6 disc brands they were testing in jewel cases on the dash of a car in Arizona all day at 103 deg. They said all the jewel cases warped but the CDs didn't, and most worked fine, although they had trouble getting data off a Memorex CD-R afterwords. Just thought you'ld like to know :D
