Default C5 2004 Bose upgrade

I have owned my Corvette for a week now. I am used to a vehicle with Bluetooth for audio and calling. I have some questions regarding upgrading my Corvette with the Bose audio system.

Where is the Bose amplifier located?

Once I replace the head unit, will the Bose factory speakers work as usual if I use Axxess XSVI-2004 or Roem-Vet1? Is one better than the other?

If I purchase a speaker upgrade like one offered by Double D Mods will I also have to replace the Bose amp or will it still work?

Sorry to ask so many questions for my first post and I am afraid any answers from the forum might trigger more questions.

There isn't a Bose amp in C5, the 'processor' is tucked into the dash above the gas pedal. If you replace HU just leave it there. Door subs are self amped, 3.5's and rears are powered by the HU internal amp.

As long as interface is connected properly it will work fine. I'd go with ROEM.

New speakers are much more worth it with an aftermarket HU

When you're looking for the HU pay attention to rated power of internal amp going to 4ohm speakers, IMO more power is more better. However, center rear tub in C5 is perfect for a 'real' sub. If you want to get a new external amp and put components in the doors, then a bridgeable 4-channel amp is easiest (and can be mounted on rear vertical wall in hatch). Interface adapter isn't needed if you do aftermarket sub and components.

We're pretty laid back in the Audio section, but no promises if you go over to General or Tech

Thank you very much for the help. It is very helpful.

Just another question if you don't mind...

So if the subs in the doors are self amped and I decide to replace the 3" door and rears, then will the subs continue to work like they should?

Also, will the Bose processor always be connected, even if I don't use the interface?

Yes, the subs work as long as you use the interface with a new HU. Changing out the twiddlers doesn't affect the subs. Doors are 3.5", rears are 6.5" in coupe or 5.25" in vert/Z.

No, if you replace the HU the oem bose processor is disconnected regardless of the speaker setup. The interface is needed to make it easy to connect the new HU to the stock speakers if you stick with stock speaker setup. If you replace HU and gut stock speakers for an aftermarket external amp and trunk sub with components in the doors, then you won't need the interface.

New HU + door subs = interface required

New HU + real sub/amp in trunk = no interface needed

I am almost ready to purchase a HU now and am borderline ready to go ahead and replace speakers as well while adding a 4 channel amp.

Since I will not need the interface adapter now, how will I retain the accessory feature...the 10 minute on after the ignition is off?

Can I use an interface adapter for just certain things and use the Preamps for running to the amp?

Thanks again and I really appreciate the help that the forum has provided.
