Default C6 Audio/Nav system

I just re-entered the Corvette owership group. I purchased a C6 with the 3LT package, advertised as having NAV. The radio/CD/DVD player was however a pioneer AVH-1500.It does not have NAV and I am arguing with the seller at this time over that missing feature.
Here's my problem. I am attempting to return the audio/Nav, etc to it's original condition. I purchased a replacement radio from ("Replacement Radios") for the correct model # for my Corvette (19159580). Upon investigation of the installed system it has uncovered a nightmare! First of all it was a butcher job. In addition the Amp located on the passenger side was removed, all the Bose speakers were replaced with "Sound Stream" speakers. I am mulling over the cost to do all this.
Here's my question, If I replace the Amp, will it power the existing speckers or will I have to return to the OEM Bose (expensive!) Also the On-Star was disabled as well. I'm new to the forum and really need some good advice. I'm posting under "help" until I can get to my computer and reply to the Forum E-mail. Help!!

The OEM Nav system requires the Bose speakers and amps!

I hate to say it but it sounds like you're best off to go with an after market Nav system since your Bose system has been ruined.

The Bose system is a major integration - involving speakers, amps, head unit, and wiring harnesses. Removing the system is one thing - however trying to return to stock from a hack job and cut harnesses could be mind-boggling and beyond frustration.

Can I ask why you want to put back the factory system? I mean the NAV really isn't great. You're much better off using an aftermarket NAV, Garmin or other.. I have the OEM NAV and hate it to say it kindly. I can't wait to pull the stupid factory radio out.

i find the oem nav. system to be just fine. it gets me to my destination and back with no problem whatsoever. so i ask, why the hell would i put money into a better nav. system when i can put elsewhere that will make a bigger difference. like maybe wheels, headers, a tune, clear bra. you get my drift i'm sure. unless of course you have money up the ying yang.

Oem nav systems do not need a bose system to work. I have a non bose system and a nav oem radio in my 2009 and it works just find. I installed it myself.

I think after finding all the other stuff was removed, I would just change to a different aftermarket head unit with built in NAV, if that's what you want. Then upgrade with other aftermarket amps/speakers as needed. That is probably going to be a lot easier.

Of course if you are really committed to going back to stock, there are likely many guys tearing out all the OEM Bose stuff and tossing into a dumpster. Maybe you can source it all out here.

I recently bought 3LT C6 and quickly removed the OEM Nav and replaced it with a Pioneer. Now I've got Bluetooth and USB drive and plenty of other goodies.

The oem Nav is fine for navigation purposes but for those in the car community that cares about sound QUALITY it leaves much to be desired.

The saying "no highs, no lows, it's gotta be bose!" never rings more true than with the c5/c6 oem audio system. My factory 3LT nav/audio system sound quality sucked and the display started shutting down. My c4 bose gold system blew it away in sound quality. Now I have been into high end home audio for years so maybe I'm a bit of an audio snob.

I went with Double D for a new setup with iphone integration and a passenger side 10" JL audio sub. Including local install with a 5 channel amp, all the speakers and a kenwood dvd nav unit I was <$2500. Night and day difference in sound quality. With my rather loud full bolt-on c6 and circle D stall converter, having a louder, finer sounding audio system is almost a necessity on long drives.

But they do need an amp, either stock or aftermarket.

If OP has an aftermarket amp currently in the car, then any oem C6 nav unit can be made to work with some modest rewiring. At a minimum you'll need to make THIS HARNESS to get the line-level signals from the HU to send them to the aftermarket amp. Making onstar work again depends on how bad it was left when removed. FYI, you'll also need to make a trip to the dealer to get new radio 'married' to the car before it will function with ignition on (it should still work in accessory mode).
