Nexus 7 Fixed mount in 1990 C4
Once I get it back I'll be bugging you and Jeff to help me sort out rooting and romming.
here is my list issues I need to resolve:
- If the Bluetooth works well for the tuner
- If I should have a physical volume and Balance control (waiting on parts)
- EQ does not fit in Glovebox. The Kenwood is 5-1/2" deep, the clarion is 4" deep, it might fit.
- Figure out how to access the power button and potentially the volume buttons on the tablet
If the bluetooth connection for Tuner audio does not work , I will need the physical *****.
I still might add them anyway, but just something I need to do. Also if the bluetooth does not work, then I currently have no way to EQ the sound. sort of bummed that it will not fit, but then again, it is one less piece of equipment to install.
I need to test out the system without the EQ just to see what type of gain I am getting at the amps.
Still browsing for the other parts that I will be needing and studying other folks' projects to get more ideas.
Sometimes I think the more I read, the more I get confused!!!
Using the knows, no matter what, it is a quick way to access without having to look. I will try the bluetooth in hopes it works well, just bummed that it requires you to turn it on all the time..
Hoping for time tomorrow and Wed to work on it. I would like to get power wired up
What bluetooth transmitter will you be trying? I agree that it will be unfortunate to have to have it on all the time...if that ends up being the case.
With all the stuff you order from Amazon I'm figuring you must be a Prime Member....or should be!
I'm in the process of trying to figure out if there is any difference between the Visteon and the Directed HD Tuner.
Visually they appear to be identical, as far as I can tell, other than the logos and markings.
Also, still looking into whether I will be able to use my factory Bose amps and speakers or if I'll have to gut all of that for aftermarket stuff.
Now that the tablet is shipped and out of sight I'm beginning to enjoy the process again.

I have an aluminum one on the Level atten I bought, might go with that one too.. for now I just want to get something working.. the **** is an easy swap
to my knowledge the Visteon and Directed are the same,, in the CarPC world the same adapter/software works for both of them
I don't think you need to gut the Bose stuff, you should be able to adapt from a USB-DAC to the correct level input for the Bose
Also, thanks for the input on using the factory Bose amps and speakers. So far everything seems to point in that direction and I have to say that I am happy with the sound quality I am getting. I just need to make sure that I don't give it any signals that are worse than what it is getting from the factory AD Delco head unit.
There was a special at Google Play on the Tasker software yesterday so I picked that up and will start to play with that when the tablet comes back.
this is the one I have on my level atten currently
I like this one.. but for $4 more I can get a whole **** assembly
My problem is that my car does not have any steering wheel controls currently, so, it's a bit of a challenge to add anything from scratch.

I am quite sure this would work using ...

Looks like you've already been considering this.
I had already read that first link relating to the C4. The more I read the more discouraged I got. Couldn't believe the persistence of the poster. That guy really sticks with it once he gets started.
The other links are new to me and have lots of helpful info.
I think there may be hope for me having "steering wheel" controls of one type or another in my car!!!
not sure I would want to use the camaro/monte wheel either
One thing I need to do is install the light bulb back in the car for the Airbag I noticed it was missing, so my best guess it there is an issue with my Airbag system and at this point I probably will not fix it..
Now I just have to deal with Mardi Gras - have kids marching in school bands all weekend. Maybe I'll get a chance to get something done.....
Jeff, I wanted the steering wheel controls mostly for changing radio stations or going thru MP3 selections on the tablet. If I get the controls set up I'm sure there will be lots of other things that I can do with them. You raise a good point though, if I use a physical volume **** then using the steering wheel controls for volume may get a little tricky.
