Ground location for aftermarket head unit?
Folks, its been a long time and I'm not sure. What should I ground the head unit to. There is a screw in the area at the bottom of the compartment on the drivers side, is that a good location? Thanks!
OK, let me show just how little I know. All I have to do is match the head unit ground with the harness ground and be done? I don't have to then hook them to a piece of metal in the car? Wow, call me stupid. I am also installing an amp, sub and speakers but will ground the power to those to the vehicle ground point on the pass frame. I recently purchased the gm 11 harness from you, hope I understood that correctly. If not, I'll definitely give you a call tomorrow.
Thanks!

Thanks!

just use the black wire in the RP5GM11
Also you reminded me of a little "Ground wire" story
Last fall I had a local guy come in with his F150 saying he bought a radio on EBAY and could not get it to work. He asked me if I would look at it for him. He explained he was an electrician and wires houses for a living and this really stumped him about why the radio would not work....
So as he pulls truck into shop and there is a long wire dragging on the ground. I didnt think nothing of it because he is an "electrician" correct???
Well I take out radio to look at his wiring. I check everything and its all soldered and looking good from radio to harness with exception of the one wire...a black ground wire. I pull on the wire and I see the one hanging from the truck move on the floor next to the door. Honest to God true story. This man thought he needed to ground the wire to the "Ground" like a house so thats what he did.
I turned looked at him and said.
Did you happen to cut off the ground wire GM left dragging on the ground as its missing and I cant seem to find it
thats correct
just use the black wire in the RP5GM11
