If your car doesn't have the SiriusXM receiver in your car, you need to install it. It also has to have switch to turn on the receiver so you get the channels.
When calling up XM, you need the receivers ID number to enter, and you should have your car outside and radio turn on, cause you enter it will send the signal to make it fully operation of the channels, in minutes, if it isn't turn on it won't find you.
Hope this helps.

If you have standard radio with Bose, one of the buttons across the bottom says SAT, if you push it and nothing happens, you don't have the receiver, but if the radio plays Sirius message along with your ID is what you need to registered radio.
I just removed and installed Kenwood radio with all bells and whistles, and had them install receiver so I can listen to XM.

You might want put in your profile little about yourself, and type of car you own.

If you add an XM box to a HU that came from the factory without one I believe you'll need to have a dealer enable the XM feature, but not sure about that. There's an old thread here somewhere with more details.

Also, IIRC you can't buy a used XM box. The HU and XM are 'married' when initially installed and I don't think they can be re-married.
