Need C5 sub install help.....
Any suggestion on a good amp, size...? I am not an car audio person, so please explain.
Also where should I tie into the exsisting system? Can I tap into the rear speakers? Or is there a way to tap in the head unit?
And for power? Under the passenger compartment or better to go to the battery?
Thanks in advance for any help....

Now as for amp size, what is the rating for the Sub that you bought, that will determine the size of the amp you will need. I checked out the Polk Audio website for the the 10 inch subs and most the subs have a Power Handling (continuous) 175 w and Power Handling (peak) 400 w so a 150 to 200 watt amp should do fine for a 10 inch sub.
To get power to the amp you should go from the battery and should use 4 gauge wire to get the power to the back of the car. Also when you run a wire from the battery to the back make sure that you have a fuse( about 25 to 30 amp fuse) within a foot of the battery in case something happens, this will protect your system and your car.
Hopefull this info will help you out.
I ended up getting a Kicker 120.2. It has more than enough hitting power for what I want.
I ended up with 8 guage wire instead. And have a 25 amp fuse on that wire. And it did go to the battery.
if you keep checking on the forum used Stealth Boxes show up for about 250 to 350. It would be worth it. The Stealth box would fit better, comes with bolts to bolt to car and had a cover to replace the original.
You could also put a free air sub in the middle compartment, but I was told that it would not sound as good.
Someone has a post on how to build your own fiberglass box.
May want to look into a bazooka tub and attach it to the back panel of the car, not stealth, but you keep your compartment and they cost about 300 for a powered 10.
One thing to make sure that you do, which I will be doing soon, is Bolt the box/amp to the car. Drill holes if necessary to do it. In a head on collision whether you do it or someone else does it, all things not bolted down will come flying to the front of the car. The speaker box is heavy and would hurt. The vette is made really well you could be in a head on going 100+mph and walk away (I did it). Sorry for the preaching....you can save money and make it yourself, but be safe. The extra steps needed to secure the box don't cost much money or time.
My box is made out of particle board and it heavy. I remember seeing some dimension from someone to make your own. But measuring would not be that bad. Just make sure that you seal the box very well.
This one works great, I have it at about 50% and it overpowers the stock speakers really easy.
