I decided to give it a try. I got to the changer and took it out, so only the mounting brackets are left.
If I unbolt the mounting brackets, how do I get the bolts out?
Looks like I will have to mount the changer in the passenger side rear compartment. If I mount the changer on the front compartment wall, looks like I will have to remove the rear wheel and fender well to drill and install bolts. Can anyone confirm this?
You need to remove a left taillight or two to reach in and grab the bolt heads to pull them out. Then you need to plug the holes!
You can install it in the side well like you mentioned. You may be able to mount the brackets on the back wall and gain access from underneath and thru the taillight holes.
Before you go to much effort, be sure the harness can be extended over enough. Mine needs to be unwrapped and split to reach.
I had to undo the wire for the harness from the other wires and run it across the middle of the rear. But it made it to the drive side rear compartment.
Since my changer was prone to skipping on hard turns and bumps. I put it in the compartment with some foam around it instead.
