Hey Nomad...

The easiest way to do this is to just leave the stock wires alone and run new wires in addition to them.
Run no less than 4-guage power wire from the positive terminal on the battery to the alternator; fuse it with an ANL fuse.
Then run no less than 4-guage ground wire from the negative battery post to the cars chassis (frame) and a 4-guage ground wire from the engine block to the chassis.
This will significantly increase your cars electrical/charging system performance, especially with that new 160-amp alt you have. :yesnod:
The easiest place on a C4 to ground to the block is where the alternator mounting arm bolts to the engine block.
Also, a good place to mount ground wires to the chassis on a C4 is up toward the front by the fan shroud, there are usually some holes left there from the factory that have nothing bolted to it. Saves you the time of drilling and tapping a new hole, plus it’s very easy to get to.
BTW: If you don’t plan on running more than 1500 to 2000 watts in your system then 4-guage will be large enough wire for this application. If you plan to go with more watts then use 1/0-guage wire.
If you have any more questions just let me know, I'll be glad to help. :seeya
