I just purchased the new pioneer avh X6700DVD single din. What else do I need to install this in my 04 Z? I also plan on focal for the doors not sure which ones yet? Jl sub and amp not sure which ones yet? not looking for rears. Looking for different options..thanks
If you're replacing everything all you need from the car is constant power, ground (both in stock harness), and switched power. Switched is only available in footwell, and your '04 prob doesn't have the accessory pigtail, so you'd have to tap a fuse.
If you want to keep RAP you can buy an Accessory Valet and do all of the wiring in the dash.

Your head unit came with a harness, buy a adapter harness for the GM (don't remember the PN just Google it) so you can plug into the stock harness, eliminates the need to splice into wiring. For the speaker wiring just run separate 14 or 16 awg from the Amp, the remote turnon for the Amp is on the head unit harness, the rest is just grunt work running power wires to the battery, low level audio to the Amp.

ok great! Also are all gm dash kits the same or do I need one just for my car?
I'm not a big fan on cutting into my stock harness....they don't make a plug that goes from stock harness to the aftermarket radio?
The Scosche, eliminates the need to cut the car's harness, you splice into the head units harness and go from there, either to Amp or direct add your own speaker wiring from the head unit to replacement speakers.
See the link below for the Scosche
