It appears these are the two leading Satellite Radio companies, each requiring a subscription plus their own specific antennas. Is it possible to be subscribed to both while only using one antenna? Anyone know of any significant differences between the two?
Don't know about the services, but I do know that my Sirius stock dropped more than 2 bucks since I bought it :mad Should've put the money into the vette instead!
Sirius is supposed to make a strong move with the new car circle around september, so I'm sure you'll see thier name around a lot more. I'll check with my distributers this week to see if any of the hardware is compatible.
Otherwise, both being Satellite Radio, that is the only simularities. Equipment is not compatable at all. XM uses 2, Sirius uses 3 sats. Overall, from side by side comparision, the Sirius is clearly better SQ, but XM may have better programing. However, I like the Sirius system a lot.
So the HU need to be made specificially for Sirius? The Alpine deck I am looking at is "XM" compatible, and can be used in conjunction with a "XM Satellite Radio Tuner" - does this mean I need to look at a different deck and tuner all together (if I want Sirius Radio? I guess i'll have to checkout the programming for both and see which would be better for me, sounds like it would be a real pain to switch from one to the other. Thanks

Hardware is content provider specific. XM has teamed up with Pioneer, Alpine, and Sony (and a few others). Sirius with Kenwood, Jensen, ?
The main antenna difference is with the repeaters. When down town, etc. it is like a standard radio station to prevent drop out. The frequencies are unique to the provider. The sat radio antennas are 2 in one--satellite and rf.

These are the only two satellite radio companies in the U.S. The HU is company specific. The antenna is compatible for either system. The only difference in the antenna is the company name and logo etched on it. Sony, Pioneer, Alpine, Audiovox, and Delphi are some of the companies making radios for XM. Plus, XM has the Playboy channel as a premium channel. Imagine you and your girl riding home after a night on the town. Talk about letting the radio do the work for you. It will plant all kinds of ideas in her head. :yesnod:
