Anyone feel the Kenwood FM reception not as good as factory radio?
Anything that can be done to improve this?
Dave
Several threads about this already. Plastic cars just don't make good antennas
Are you still using stock amp/speakers? If yes you're already powering the oem antenna module. If no, connect HU blue/white wire to wire at B3 of oem plug.
If oem module is powered and still bad reception you can try an "FM Signal Amplifier" on ebay for under $10. In my '07 it worked pretty good, but in my '12 it didn't help much.
If that still isn't enough, many have had good results with a Metra 44-UA200 for about $20.
Where is the oem (FM) antenna module located ?
What is the best way to confirm that it is powered ?
I have a Kenwood in a 2007 C6 and the FM reception is poor.

Physical location is on rear wall in trunk.
If you're using oem amp/speakers, it's powered. If aftermarket amp, you need to connect HU amp trigger wire to wire at pin B3 of the main plug.

I am pulling out an older Kenwood head unit with poor reception and installing a new Kenwood which also has poor FM reception. I assume the antenna amplifier is not powered up. I don't have a wiring diagram for my C6Z. Before I go on a fishing expedition in my dash, how do I identify the amp trigger wire at B3 or main plug?
