HU install
So I'm attempting to install a Kenwwod HU in my 88. Got everything working but it's got a terrible whine sound when the key is turned on. I tried to ground the HU directly but it didn't help. How do I solve this? Any suggestions? Thanks

When I did it my C4, with new install I had whine with the engine running coming from alternator, and what I did ground out the unit, and the whine went away.

make sure your ground(s) are good. run the shortest distance possible. Also check to make sure that no power wire are near the speaker wires which can cause noise. double check that the power and ground leads are secure and tight. If all else fails, the do make noise suppressors for in-line on the power supply lead

I believe it was in my C5, the alt whine would not go away until I put in a power line noise filter (like this one) on the HU itself.
Worked so good I've been using it in every car since

Thanks guys....I'm going to ground the HU directly and see if that works...but I'm also thinking because the speakers are still amped...that this could be an issue as well. Bad amps?? Btw...amp relay power wire had to be connected to get sound....and the whine was heard immediately after connecting that wire.
