C5 factory cover over the sub

Let me start by saying, I am not very experienced with subwoofers. I see some run the factory storage cover over the sub. What does that do to the sound? I would think it would muffle it? What about a Lloyd cargo mat on top of that?

The more stuff you put on top of it, the more it will be affected, but it's mostly just the volume that changes.

If you have enough power going into the sub you can use the lid and carpet
