Factory wiring reversed?

Factory wiring reversed?
So I installed a Kenwood HU without referring to FSM wiring schematics and it works.....turns on/off with car. However, after I looked at the FSM wiring it appears that I have the wiring (battery and remote) reversed. Is the factory wiring not correct in my car or is it just possible that it can work this way as well? Thanks

Car is an 88....I used the orange from car to stereo red.....and yellow from car to stereo yellow. This is totally reversed according to FSM and it seems to work properly BUT something is draining battery and I'm thinking this is why. As soon as battery charges I'll be reversing wires according to FSM and see what happens.

Disconnect HU red & yellow wires from car.
Twist them together.
With car off, touch them to 1 of the 2 car wires....
If radio powers up, that is constant B+
If radio doesn't power up, start car, if it powers up that's your switched wire.
HU yellow to constant, HU red to switched
