I'm wondering if it is possible to upgrade the base sound system to the factory Bose system. My last C6z had the Bose system and it was plenty for me, but my new one has the base speakers. I'm open to other suggestions, but I do NOT want to put a sub in the rear.
Anything is possible, but it wouldn't be easy, or cheap, and doesn't really sound much better for the effort or $$ it would take to convert to oem Bose.
A good 4-channel mini amp, possibly hidden in the stock amp location, feeding new components in the doors and coax in the back would definitely get more volume. Depending on the speakers, probably a bit more bass also.

Hey Markcz,
1st time vette owner! 12 GS. For the setup option u suggested, what component and coax size would u recommend? I do want a decent amount of bass too.
I don't want my amp to be visible and avoid putting a sub in my trunk.
I wouldn't call Bose much of an upgrade, No Highs, No Lows, must be Bose.....Decent sounding equipment, but pretty sure you could do better for less talking with Dennis at DDmods...

I went from an '09 base (non-Bose) to a '10 GS (with-Bose & NAV). The base sound system is much better IMHO.

i am trying to do the same thing but I would love to know if it is possible before I start pulling stuff apart. Does anyone know if the Bose system will be a direct plug in upgrade for the C6 base sound system?
It isn't. There are amplifiers and such that go with the BLose that aren't on the non-Blose. IIRC. So you'll need to source the ENTIRE system. Way more hassle than it's worth for a worthless audio system.
Forget it. Bose stands for Buy Other Sound Equipment
It has been many years but I pioneered changing the speakers and HU in a C6. I am an Audiophile and was forced to get BOSE with my C6, if I wanted it in 2004. I initially stayed with the original HU and pulled all the BOSE crap out I put in MB Quartz components. The Woofers in the lower doors the tweeter in the upper doors, powered by a Kicker 650W amp. I made a small box that ran across the back of the hatch with factory carpeting that hid the amp and the crossovers so when you looked in the hatch it looked like it belonged. I did have screening for cooling but was barely visible from the outside.
Now for the mind blowing part of the setup. I put a JL 8" sub in the rear right compartment(which I think was the larger of the two), and built a mount/cover for it that looked exactly like the original cover. I covered the entire inside and outside of the compartment in Dymamat to strengthen it. I built 3+ inches via 3/4 MDF above the original cover to give it some more volume which I kept adding to, to get the sound I wanted. I filled the compartment just a touch over 1/3 rd with Polyfill and that sub would simply kick ***. I could feel it pushing the back of my seats. I had to remove some polyfil to get it right. In all honesty it took a fair amount of futzing to get it where I wanted it for my music tastes, yours may vary
You need to have some carpentry skills but it was pretty simple.
If you looked in my C6 you would have no idea I had a custom system in it.
I got a Pioneer Double Din Navigation Unit and it was much better than the stock HU.
I am guessing me.
It was so long ago it looks like I deleted my pics. but here is my post on it and shows a post I followed that still has pics
I did find a few pics from my neighbors car. The difference being I put a full cover over my sub and built it up another 1 1/2" to ad a bit more volume and covered it in carpeting, so it was invisible. I might have another source of pictures, just not available at this second. C6 Subwoofer in Side panel
